I am an avid eater...someone who enjoys eating at home and outside. Whether I eat in our dining room, at my workplace's pantry, in a fast food chain or a nice restaurant, I enjoy it especially when I'm in the company of family and friends.
At home, we normally prepare soup dishes like sinigang and tinola, grilled meats and fish, and meat, seafood and vegetables in coconut milk and siling labuyo since we hail from Bicol. Mommy likes to go to the wet market and enjoys buying fresh ingredients for our daily meals and special Sunday lunches.
Holidays and important occasions mean cooking for the family--me, whipping up a main dish, mommy preparing her sosyal and special entrees, Kuya grilling meats in our backyard or making his simple but yummy desserts, and Papa and my little sister...well...enjoying everything we prepared!
Back in grade school and high school, my girl friends and I used to eat on the floor by forming a circle and placing our food containers in the middle. We shamelessly pitch our forks into each other's containers or bite into everyone else's sandwiches. Why? 'Coz someone else's food always tastes better! So whether it's just a simple lunch day, or pot luck day, or cooking in T.H.E., we simply enjoy food like there's no tomorrow!
In college, being an iskolar ng bayan, I learned to enjoy simple food from our canteen, a nearby carinderia and the numerous food stalls in and outside of school. I remember having P200 as my daily baon and spending only P30 for lunch, P25 for am snacks and P25 for pm snacks. I really save a lot from my baon so an impromptu dinner at Mc Donald's or Jollibee or a Carinderia specializing in sizzling sisig and the like is ok for a kolehiyala with "limited" funds.
As a working girl, having my own salary and freedom to spend most of it is pure bliss! I got to eat in mainstream and not-so-known restaurants all over the metro. Mostly, we dine in the south area, Alabang, Paranaque and Las Pinas and our monthly or quarterly food trips are really something we look forward to!
Now that I have a food blog, I just want to share with the world the food trips I really enjoy and maybe, I'll be able to help you choose a restaurant in one of your own food trips! :) Enjoy!
